Can anyone operate a scissor lift in the UK?
Absolutely! So long as you have undertaken and passed a training course in their safe operation, you’ll be able to operate a scissor lift.
Health and safety legislation in the UK dictates that anyone operating a scissor lift, or any other potentially dangerous machinery, must have a valid certificate before using these types of equipment in the workplace.
Failing to recognise the importance of safety when operating a scissor lift could result in bad accidents, but with proper training and knowledge of how to use them safely, nearly all accidents can be prevented.

How long will my training course take?
At DW Forklift Training, we strive to have your course completed as quickly as possible, and in most instances, you can gain your certificate in as little as 8 hours!
We understand that schedules can be tight, which is why we always aim to have our courses completed within 6-8 hours (with breaks included of course), but this isn’t to say the quality of our courses is ever compromised.
During this time, classroom learning is combined with hands-on experience, giving you a comprehensive picture of how to operate a scissor lift safely and efficiently. With the help of our expert team, you can look forward to becoming a skilled scissor lift driver in no time at all!

How long will my certificate last?
Your certificate will serve you for a lifetime – but this isn’t to say that, once you’re qualified, you’re set for life.
It’s not uncommon for legislation to change in the UK and alter what you need to know about scissor lifts for you to be able to use one in the workplace.
We’ve found that many of our past students come back to us once they’ve gained their certifications, to undergo refresher training and update their knowledge in line with their employer’s current health and safety regulations.
Some companies prefer to have their employees recertified every couple of years, to ensure the highest, most relevant level of training and we’re more than happy to accommodate these needs.
